<Warning>
  Email delivery starts disabled. Saving, reviewing and downloading a draft do
  not contact members. Your workspace must have completed broadcast setup before
  you can queue emails. Demo mode does not save drafts.

## Compose and save

Open **Broadcasts** as an organisation Owner or Manager. Staff cannot access broadcasts.

1. Choose all opted-in members, members with no visits in 30 days, or members whose stamp reward is ready.
2. Write a subject and message. Subjects allow 120 characters; messages allow 5,000.
3. Select **Save draft**. Saved drafts appear in your organisation's broadcast list and can be reopened later.
4. Select **Review broadcast**. Save any further changes before confirming the queue.

Drafts are not automatically saved. Save current edits before opening another draft.
Downloading keeps a sanitized text copy. A queued broadcast's content cannot be edited.

## Content safety

The content preview supports Markdown and basic HTML text formatting. Scripts,
images, event handlers, forms, embeds and custom styles are removed. Only absolute
HTTPS links without credentials are allowed, with destination domains visible in
the preview. External links are not endorsements.

Delivery uses sanitized plain text in an escaped email body. Formatting is removed
and allowed link destinations are retained as text. The server validates the
content independently of the browser. Raw draft HTML is never sent as email HTML.

## Who receives a broadcast

Members must explicitly opt into email marketing for your organisation in their
membership email preferences. Joining a programme, adding a wallet pass or giving
a sign-in email does not count as marketing consent. Consent for another
organisation cannot be reused.

Recipients need an active, unexpired membership and a verified email. Kardy
deduplicates addresses when queueing and checks consent and membership again before
sending. Changing an email after queueing suppresses that pending delivery.

Every email has the email service's unsubscribe controls and an organisation-specific
preference link. Opening the organisation link shows a confirmation; submitting
it stops that organisation's marketing. Unsubscribing leaves stamps, membership
and essential account messages available. It cannot recall an email already being sent.

## Delivery availability

Members manage their own [email preferences](/features/email-preferences). Queueing
requires sufficient [email allowance](/features/usage-limits#what-counts).

Custom email uses InsForge's managed email service on a paid backend plan. Kardy
also requires an active paid merchant subscription. Delivery stays unavailable
until server configuration and the backend delivery gate are both enabled.

Messages leave the queue gradually within the service quota. Queueing itself is
not confirmation of delivery. Kardy does not process a consumer checkout payment
for a broadcast and does not quote a per-message price in the composer. Email
service usage remains subject to the configured paid plan.

## Read the status

### Check broadcast usage

The Owner can open **Settings → Usage & limits → Broadcast usage** to see recipients
used, remaining capacity, the monthly limit and the reset date. One broadcast queued
to 100 eligible recipients uses **100 recipients**, not one broadcast. Writing,
reviewing, saving or downloading a draft does not reserve recipient allowance.

Recipients count when queued, even if a later delivery is suppressed or fails.
Retries do not reserve the same recipient again. A batch exceeding the available
allowance is rejected rather than partially queued. The counter is not a measure
of delivered emails, opens or clicks; read the broadcast's delivery summary for status.

The allowance resets on the first day of each month at **00:00 UTC**, independently
of your subscription renewal date. A zero allowance needs to be arranged with Kardy;
having allowance does not by itself enable delivery. See [Usage and capacity limits](/features/usage-limits).

### Delivery statuses

* **Queued:** waiting for processing, including a rate-limit retry.
* **Sending:** a worker has claimed the message.
* **Accepted by email service:** the provider accepted the request; inbox delivery is not confirmed.
* **Suppressed:** consent, membership, email eligibility or provider suppression prevented sending.
* **Failed:** the provider explicitly rejected the request, or rate-limit retries were exhausted.
* **Uncertain:** a timeout or interrupted send needs investigation. Kardy does not automatically resend it.

Reopen a queued broadcast to refresh its delivery summary. Explicit rate-limit
rejections retry after one hour, up to five attempts. Duplicate queue requests
do not create another copy of the same broadcast for a member.

SMS, WhatsApp, wallet push, open/click tracking and delivery-confirmation webhooks
are not enabled by this email feature. Do not upload purchased contact lists or
share login credentials to send marketing.
