# Accounts and access

> Understand your Kardy account, who can access your organisation, and where to manage each one.

One Kardy account can hold customer memberships and belong to merchant teams.
Your role is set separately for each organisation—being an Owner at one brand
does not give you access to another.

Looking for practical steps? Start with [Quick start](/guides/quick-start), or open
the [Staff](/guides/staff), [Manager](/guides/manager), or [Owner](/guides/owner) guide.

## Create an account

1. Enter your email and choose **Continue** on step **1 / 2**. Already registered?
Choose **Sign in** below the button instead.
2. Enter your full name, select your phone country, enter the national phone
number, and choose and confirm a password on step **2 / 2**.
3. Satisfy the displayed password checks, then choose **Create account**. Complete
email verification if requested before continuing to your destination.

Phone entry accepts digits and caps the length according to the selected country's
numbering plan. The server also validates the number and selected country; a full
field is not necessarily a valid number. Supported types are mobile and fixed-line
numbers, without extensions. This format check does **not** verify phone ownership
or deliver an SMS code. Passwords are handled through the authentication service.

The merchant signup preview uses your entered name and email, but it is read-only.
Placeholder menu rows do not open settings, and the preview is not evidence that
your account has been created. Creating an account also does not activate a paid
merchant subscription or join every customer programme automatically.

## Account settings or Organisation settings?

Open **Account settings** from your account menu in the consumer or merchant
portal. Your personal details are shared across your Kardy account, not copied
into a separate login for every brand. Sign-in email is currently read-only.
See [editing personal details](/customer-journey/account) or
[recovering wallet access](/customer-journey/recover-account).

## Who can do what?

See the [role comparison](/features/team-access#a-role-belongs-to-an-organisation)
for Owner, Manager and Staff permissions. A customer membership grants no merchant
access. **Members** lists customers; **Team & access** manages employees.
